Invoice goes unpaid

The Letter Before Action

Upload your invoice and Garfield drafts a legally compliant Letter Before Action, including automatically determining what legal basis you have to claim interest and doing the calculations for you. Most debtors pay after receiving an LBA — without needing to go to court.

The majority of claims are paid or resolved here.

The Claim Form

If the debtor does not respond to your Letter Before Action, Garfield prepares and files your claim with the county court — with the correct court fee calculations and paperwork handled for you.

Most claims have settled by now, if they haven't...

The Judgment

After your claim is filed, the defendant’s response determines what happens next. Garfield handles each of these three paths for you.

If the debtor doesn't reply...

Garfield applies for default judgment on your behalf, giving you an enforceable court order to recover what you are owed.

If the debtor admits the claim...

Garfield guides you through deciding whether to accept the debtor’s admission in whole or in part.

If the debtor still refuses to pay...

Garfield helps you respond to the defence and guides you through the next stages of taking your claim to trial.

If your claim proceeds to trial, Garfield prepares the documents you need — directions, witness statements, and more.

Recover your money

Garfield can also help you enforce your judgment if the debtor does not pay willingly.
